Valve selling special TF2 hats to aid Japan relief fund

Valve is contributing to recovery efforts in Japan by raising cash with Team Fortress 2 swag. From now until April 6th, the studio is selling digital Japan-themed hats through the in-game Mann Co. store, with plans to donate all proceeds to the American Red Cross’ Japanese disaster relief fund.

The limited time offerings include (from left to right) the “Benefactor’s Kanmuri” for $19.99; the “Humanitarian’s Hachimaki” for $7.99; and the “Magnanimous Monarch,” which, at $99.99, is a sure-fire way to gain some wicked good karma. The hats are made to fit every class, but cannot be used for crafting or swapped amongst other do-gooders.

Valve insists this is a once-in-a-blue-moon promotion, so if you’re partial to buying virtual headgear and/or donating to a worthy cause, the time to do so would be before the April 6th cut-off. Or now. Now is also good.
