Sins of a Solar Empire stand-alone expansion “Rebellion” released

After nearly four and a half years on the market, Sins of a Solar Empire is out to prove its still got some juice. The latest expansion to the critically acclaimed strategy game, Rebellion,released today (opens in new tab)and boasts a stand-alone experience that doesn’t require the base game to play.

Rebellion is the third expansion to the cult hit space strategy game, and introduces a host of new content, from new capital ships and super-capital ships, to new “rebellious” and “loyalist” factions for each race.

The SoaSE series has been an unqualified success for developer Ironclad Games, who developed the title with a budget under $1 million, yet managed to sell over half a million copies (not including expansions.) The base game won several game of the year titles in 2008, and has maintained its cult status among hard core strategy fans ever since.
