Thanks to the busy schedules of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, it’s been nearly two years (!) since we last saw BBC’s Sherlock sleuthing on our TV screens. Thankfully, the wait will come to an end when it airs The Abominable Bride early next year, and a new teaser for the Victorian-era Christmas special has been unveiled.
Watch it below…
Some of the teaser footage has been recycled from the first full trailer (opens in new tab) we were graced with last month, but it also recreates the first meeting between Sherlock and Watson suggesting that the pair won’t already know each other at the start of the Victorian-era episode.
Plus, a fresh snippet of dialogue from Freeman’s John Watson – “I’m an army doctor which means I can break every bone in your body while naming them” – is a zinger worthy of a laugh or two. Roll on 2016!
The Sherlock Christmas special The Abominable Bride will air in the UK and US on New Year’s Day 2016, and will also be available to watch in theatres.
