Mystique going solo?
X-Men Mystique and Gambit may be getting their own solo films. According to Entertainment Weekly , producer Lauren Shuler Donner said she’s interested in taking Mystique further in her own film: “I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters.” X-Men: Days Of Future Past producer and writer Simon Kinberg is keen to give Jennifer Lawrence her own Mystique movie too – “There’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo” – and we’re sure 20th Century Fox would like to take advantage of J-Law being one of the biggest stars on the planet. But if you ask us, we need to see some Cajun action and give Gambit some more screen time!

Comixology and Amazon join forces
Comic book and graphic novel digital platform Comixology has been acquired by online shopping behemoths Amazon. The iTunes of comics, Comixology offers up digital editions of titles from Marvel, DC and loads of other publishers to read on the go. It’s not yet known if the Comixology brand will remain, but we’d be surprised if this isn’t great news for Kindle users.

PROMETHEUS BREAKING RECORDS ALREADY

Prometheus ’s eye-poppingly gorgeous trailer is already paying dividends, with London’s BFI Imax reporting record presales. This week was the first in which audiences could book their tickets for Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi, and so far 18,287 cinemagoers have done so. This translates to £293,287 in takings, 27 days before the movie hits cinemas here, and this has already beaten presales for Avatar and The Dark Knight, says the Hollywood Reporter .

LINDELOF AND BIRD ON MYSTERY PROJECT

Damon Lindelof is a busy man. He’s co-writing Star Trek 2 , has just helped to create Prometheus’ s script, and has also found time to draft a new film for Disney. 1952 will see Lindelof team with Brad Bird, fresh from live-action success with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol , say the Hollywood Reporter . As yet the project is shrouded in mystery; something Lindelof must be well used to by now.

JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT HAS A LITTLE SHOP…

iO9 reports that Joseph Gordon-Levitt could appear as Seymour, owner of the little shop of horrors, in a remake of the tale. If you’re wondering whether it’ll be a musical, then consider this – Marc Platt, producer of Broadway hit Wanted , and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, writer of the Spider-Man musical, are on board. This’ll be a hell of a step for Levitt from being a Looper.
